Post Traumatic Stress Disorder therapy
If you have experienced a frightening event, such as a serious car accident, a physical or sexual assault, or a natural disaster, it's normal to feel anxious and upset. You may have nightmares, trouble sleeping, or replay the event in your head.
But if you have difficulty getting on with your life, and your feelings don't start to fade after a month or so, you may have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
PTSD is particularly likely to affect combat veterans, and children who have suffered or witnessed physical, sexual, or emotional abuse.
If you:
- Often replay the experience in your thoughts or nightmares;
- Avoid people, places, or things that remind you of the event;
- Become withdrawn or feel guilty;
- Feel nervous and vulnerable all the time;
- Have difficulty sleeping or relaxing;
then you should contact me as soon as you can. The sooner you start to overcome the effects of PTSD, the better you will feel.
The healing process can be a long and complex journey. I will help you with effective therapy to face the issues that are troubling you, and to accept what has happened to you as a part of your past.
